EP Review: Thirteen ‘Believe / Da Casio’

Thirteen ‘Believe / Da Casio’ is the second release from Hard Cell Records and features the talents of electronic musician and producer Rob Green and the phenomenal singer Gene Serene who teamed up with Rob to write and record ‘Believe’. The single is due to be released next month.

Record Company: Hard Cell Records
Release Date: 13 November, 2015
Release Type: EP
Track 1: Thirteen Featuring Gene Serene ‘Believe’ (Original)
Track 2: Thirteen Featuring Gene Serene ‘Believe’ (Club Mix)
Track 3: Thirteen ‘Da Casio’

The artists have given the songs a truly modern twist, combining dance and synth beats with a pinch of darker sounds. It is not only stimulating and ambiguous, mixing an old school vibe with a more contemporary sound, but as well fetching in the best of ways. Although the analogies don’t always convince, continuing playing with that little spot between dark electronic and dance music can’t help but win out.
P.S. the last song “Da Casio” (that is a solo project by Rob Green) features the actual Casio VL-Tone that, as Rob told us, he saved up for as a child – quite impressive!
